”Named from a famous series of New York concerts bringing together renowned salsa and jazz soloists, Salsa Meets Jazz combines the Griffith-Galas jazz duo with two of the greatest musicians in Venezuela: Rafael Mejias and Xavier Padilla.
The percussionist, trumpeter and singer Mejias turned or recorded with Richard Galliano, Arielle Dombasle, Yuri Buenaventura and the Recoveco ensemble. Padilla collaborated on tour or studio with the Gipsy Kings, Celia Cruz, Bernard Lavilliers, and Dany Brillant.
Oliver Griffith , who worked 20 years as a diplomat, occurred during jazz festivals in Africa, Latin America, and Europe. He had the opportunity to play alongside international stars such as Franco de Vita and Mary Wilson and the Supreme, and recorded several albums, included with renowned musicians like Dave Friedman and Joe Cohn.
Patrice Galas recorded nearly twenty records in collaboration with artists such as the saxophonists Pepper Adams and Manu Dibango, and has done a tour alongside the saxophonist Johnny Griffin. As a member of the group of drummer Kenny Clarke, he accompanied jazz legends such as Dizzy Gillespie, Stan Getz, Dexter Gordon, and Benny Golson.
