Amati Schmitt & Rocky Gresset — An exceptional encounter

Two generations, two personalities, one shared passion for the guitar and jazz. Amati Schmitt, a figure of the new generation of gypsy jazz, and Rocky Gresset, a guitarist with an elegant style deeply rooted in the legacy of Django Reinhardt, come together for a concert marked by complicity, swing and freedom.

The son of Dorado Schmitt, Amati took to the stage at the age of nine and performed alongside some of the biggest names in jazz at a very young age. At 14, he was noticed at the Jazz à Vienne Festival, where he opened for Paco de Lucia. Since then, he has performed on prestigious international stages and shared the stage with many of the biggest names in jazz.

Rocky Gresset, for his part, carries within him the gypsy tradition while cultivating a remarkable openness towards contemporary jazz.

Influenced by Django Reinhardt, Wes Montgomery, George Benson and Pat Metheny, he developed a personal style, recognizable by his touch, elegance and musicality.

Their encounter promises a dialogue between tradition and modernity, virtuosity and sensitivity, where each guitar responds to the other in a free, generous and profoundly musical interplay.
