”This concert celebrates the release of this new album by Charles SIDOUN with Afro-Cuban colors and beautiful and profound writing specific to the universe of this talented artist.
The music of Charles SIDOUN in this new album “MES INFLUENCES” will partly find its sources through the father figure George SIDOUN, both multi-instrumentalist and eclectic music lover.
At a very young age, Charles SIDOUN was introduced to jazz by discovering artists like WAYNE SHORTER at the time of his group "YOUNG LIONS" and, in particular a title by DIZZY GILLESPIE "MANTECA" (1947), accompanied by CHANO POZO, precursor Cuban in percussion who mixed the sacred rhythms of ABAKUA (Yoruba ethnic group from West Africa) with jazz.
This concert, from the album “MES INFLUENCES” by Charles SIDOUN, retraces these paths of memory, mixing in the process all these musical currents specific to the multi-ethnic rapprochements of our time.
