Singer Anne Carleton offers a unique and profoundly sensitive interpretation of George Gershwin's world. In this concert where her voice is enveloped by strings, the American composer's great themes are revealed in a new light—more intimate, more fragile, more dreamlike.
Around Anne Carleton's voice, an ensemble of exceptional musicians explores the colors and resonances of the strings. Pianist Christophe Cravero offers a highly contemporary approach to the repertoire: prepared piano and direct work on the instrument's strings transform certain emblematic themes, including Summertime.
Violinist Johan Renard has created original arrangements of the themes "How Long Has This Been Going On," "Do It Again," and "But Not for Me," specially composed for this occasion.
The musical texture is further enriched by the singular presence of Simon Drappier, who brings the deep, velvety sound of his double bass and lends his poetic vision to this dialogue between voice and strings.
Added to this will be the finesse of Sandrine Cariou's violin and the depth of Lucie Cravero's cello.
