American saxophonist, flautist, singer Oliver Griffith, accompanied by French virtuoso Patrice Galas on piano, presents a program of jazz standards, bossa novas, and blues.
Oliver Griffith, who worked for 20 years as a diplomat, organized jazz groups around the world and performed at jazz festivals in Africa, Latin America, and Europe. He had the opportunity to play as a soloist alongside international stars such as Franco de Vita and Mary Wilson and the Supreme. In addition, he recorded several albums, including with renowned musicians like Dave Friedman and Joe Cohn.
Patrice Galas is one of France's most prominent pianists. He has recorded nearly twenty albums in collaboration with artists such as saxophonists Pepper Adams and Manu Dibango. He has also toured with saxophonist Johnny Griffin. As a member of drummer Kenny Clarke's band, he has accompanied jazz legends such as Dizzy Gillespie, Stan Getz, and Dexter Gordon, as well as other international jazz greats like Benny Golson, Scott Hamilton, Marcus Miller, and Joshua Redman.
