Driven by a lush and irresistible energy, Beyond Brazilian Stories takes you on a musical journey between Brazilian traditions and jazz explorations.

It all began with an inspiring encounter between pianist Mathieu Bélis and double bassist Stéphane Dardour, who were introduced to the richness of Brazilian music by Philippe Baden Powell. From this meeting, the Brazilian Stories project was born. The group quickly expanded with the arrival of saxophonist David Florsch, drummer Louis Bao Lao, and Äulne, singer and flautist.

Together, they revisit the masterpieces of giants like Milton Nascimento, Airto Moreira, Hermeto Pascoal, Egberto Gismonti, Dorival Caymmi, Edu Lobo and Moacir Santos, fusing popular melodies and instrumental flights.

But the project goes far beyond a tribute: the quintet also composes its own pieces, drawing on this Brazilian effervescence, to create a universe that is both authentic and innovative. Their second album, "O ritmo do sonho," with the exceptional participation of Mariana Zwarg (daughter of Itiberê Zwarg, bassist for Hermeto Pascoal), Edmundo Carneiro (legendary Brazilian percussionist), and Jessica Simon (National Jazz Orchestra), was awarded "Revelation" by Jazz Magazine!
