Founded by singer and poet Antoine Dessane, the Jive Messengers introduced audiences to the art of vocalise, which involves writing or improvising lyrics to instrumental jazz melodies. Popularized in the 1950s by the trio Lambert, Hendricks & Ross, this practice—also called Jive, in reference to the popular language of Harlem—distinguishes itself from scat singing by using actual words rather than onomatopoeia.

The group offers a unique concert blending the tradition of 50s-60s electric jazz (amplified guitar and Hammond organ) with Soul and Rock influences, in the spirit of bands like The Doors.

Antoine Dessane will be accompanied by guitarist Fédia Amice, Laurent Marode on Hammond organ, and Stéphane Chandelier on drums. The program features standards by Wes Montgomery, Grant Green, and others, revisited with vocal arrangements for an evening dedicated to musical discovery.
