”In her second album "Good Days Bad Days", saxophonist Lisa Cat-Berro offers a folk-jazz repertoire inspired by the great songwriters of the 70's, and reveals her singing voice during an inner road trip which is as much like a notebook road than diary.
The second album by Lisa Cat-Berro (Nominated for the Victoires du Jazz 2013), “Good days Bad days” is the testimony of a journey and a mutation which is as much an inner travelogue as a personal diary.
The saxophonist reaffirms her songwriting qualities and gives us for the first time the intimacy of her singing voice, as an amused and tender response to those who have told her for so long that she plays the way people sing.
10 pieces, 5 songs and 5 instrumentals, tell the story of a transformation, even a rebirth.
These songs of the soul, born from the obligation to accept the succession of days as they are, good or bad, speak to us of reincarnation, of changing times, of fruitful waiting and of the light that emerges from destitution.
To bring these “folksongs” to life, she chose to continue the path started with the musicians of her quartet (Julien Omé, Stéphane Decolly and Nicolas Larmignat, joined on stage by Louise Thiolon), carried by the joy of hearing the pieces take shape and build with them. The group's sound, tinged with folk and instrumental pop, which has acquired a patina over time, gives real depth to this music which aims to testify to the energy of life and resilience which is present in each of us.
